Garment Care

Garments of NOMEX can be cleaned by home or commercial laundry or by dry cleaning procedures without loss of their outstanding protective features. The following suggestions will help you keep your garments looking neat and attractive.

Home Cleaning
  • Pre-treat greasy stains and collar/cuff lines with product such as Spray 'N Wash or Shout. Put directly in washer, do not let it sit. Remove promptly from washer.
  • Launder garments of NOMEX only with other garments of NOMEX to help avoid surface entrapment of flammable lint and to minimize static in the tumble dryer.
  • Do not overload home laundry equipment. Wash garments in warm water with a mild detergent such as Era, Tide, Cheer, Woolite... Do not use bleach or detergents with bleach.
  • For maximum fire protection, greases and oils should be thoroughly removed from garments of NOMEX after each wearing. If home procedures do not accomplish this, commercial laundering or drying cleaning is recommended.
  • Always fasten Velcro (collar and belt) to prevent fraying of the fabric used in your suit.
Drying
  • Tumble dry garments at low temperature setting or let hang to air dry in the shower or bathtub. Do not hang NOMEX garments in the sun.
  • Washer and dryer added softener/ antistatics are not recommended because they often reduce wickability (a comfort factor).

Warning

BEWARE!!! DO NOT EXPOSE THE SUIT TO THE SUN OR MOON LIGHT. NOMEX IS NOT ULTRAVIOLET RAY RESISTANT. COLOR FADING CAN OCCUR.

SFI Specifications

The SFI Foundation, Inc. is an independent organization, which develops implements and administers minimum standards for racing equipment manufacturers. The specification, which covers driving uniforms, is SFI Spec 3.2A.

SFI Spec 3.2A provides for testing of suits in controlled laboratory conditions. Of concern to the race driver is the approximate time a specific garment will provide protection from a second-degree (blistering) burn.

A rating is assigned to a particular type garment of specific construction. The uniforms are categorized with a Thermal Protective Performance (TPP) rating. This rating is expressed as a heat level from which a second-degree burn would probably be incurred.

The SFI 3.2A ranking, the TPP rating and the approximate time to a second-degree burn are tabled below.

If you look at the rating for the 3.2A/5 Spec you'll see that the rating is from 19 TPP to 37 TPP, or roughly 10 to 18 seconds. Most suits produced and sold with an SFI 3.2A/5 are at the lowest level of protection.

Sizing

Men’s sizes available are Small to 4XL. Add 10% extra for size 2XL and above. Call for info on women’s blouses.

Fabric Colors

Our fabric is available in more than 30 colors to allow you a wide latitude for design and creativity. Other colors are available but may affect lead time and pricing. Hinchman Racing Uniforms cannot guarantee exact color match across dye lots or between same colors of different fabrics. Fabric colors can vary on re-orders.

Guarantees and Returns

Hinchman Racing Uniforms guarantees the quality of all apparel items. Merchandise may be returned for manufacturer’s defects only. A return authorization is required within 7 days of receipt.

Shipping

Orders are shipped UPS ground and fully insured unless other arrangements are made. ALL shipping costs are the sole expense of purchaser. We cannot ship to P.O. Boxes. We ship worldwide.

Any order may be placed by phone, mail, fax or in person. No order will be complete until a representative from Hinchman Racing Uniforms contacts you to discuss details of your order.

No Minimum quantity.

Terms

A 50% deposit is required on all orders to begin production. Orders must be paid in their entirety before shipping.
